Before I tell this story, perhaps I should explain about Bleeker Street Gym. As I’ve mentioned on lifeinaspen.com, Bleeker is the meathead gym. It’s smallish, equipment everywhere, rubber floors, tons of dumbbells, a weight rack and a squat rack, 4 KBs, 1 jump rope, and a freestanding pull-up bar (no kipping here). I spend most of my time by the rack, but it’s not a lot of space. However, it’s better than nothing, and it has the minimalist atmosphere I love!
When I bought my membership from the gym this morning (yep, I was at the gym at 7:30 this morning!!), the owner told me, “You’re good for the gym.”
Quite the compliment!
Morning workout:
Warmup: 400m run, 500m row, burgener, squats, pushups, 50 double unders **I got 22 in row, the most I’ve ever gotten!!!***
Snatch Complex (same as Monday): 65# 5 strict press, 5 OH squat, 5 back squat x 3
Back squat 4 x 5: 155-160-170-180
Mini-WOD: 21-15-9 of 16 kg KB swings + mountain-climbers
Foam rolling
Also, last night I played 2 hours of pickup basketball, which was awesome, but I couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn, so that sucked. Apparently I need to be shooting more! Now there’s pickup every Tues/Thurs, so look for that to be a big part of my workout regimen!
