So I’ve been looking forward to working out all day and have planned to hit the gym at 8:30pm when I find out it closes at 9pm. Now, CrossFit is quick and all, but it’s just not worth bundling up and trekking to the gym for less than 30 minutes.
I briefly contemplate taking another rest day–after the FULL day of driving in the car (12+ hrs), I don’t really need one, but it wouldn’t hurt … my back is super sore from heavy deadlifts on Monday (5-5-5-5-5-5-5: 220/230/240/245/250/250/260), and I’m still settling in here in Aspen …
OR I could do my least favorite exercise in the entire world.
100 times.
Yes, that’s right, because the freckin’ gym was closed, I got down in my little room in a 3 foot by 7 foot space and did 100 burpees for time.

This is a mindfuck, people. Here I am, at 7,908 feet after 18+ hours of driving over the course of two days, having consumed a chocolate chip cookie (yes, 100% worth it) mere hours before, and I undertake the worst exercise ever invented in the most monotonous way possible with only Britney to accompany me (Spears, off my iTunes). It isn’t a time I’m proud of, and I stopped doing burpees long enough to go change the song when I didn’t like, but bottom line is that I did it. 100 burpees for time is DONE.
And even better, I tackled a weakness. We need to work on our weaknesses as much if not more than strengths, but who likes to do that? And especially by themselves?
I am oddly proud of myself.
