Well let me tell you:
1 cup hot cocoa made with heavy cream, cacao, and sugar, with a splash of coconut rum and frangelico. Splurge!
Pad Thai from Sundeck … I ordered it just with veggies and shrimp (no noodles) but the peanut sauce and its inevitable accompanying sugar are a splurge.
1 bloody mary
A LOT of trail mix with cashews, pistachios, mulberries, goji berries, and golden raisins. Again, not a huge splurge except that the dried fruit is a lot of sugar.
Flavored almonds, coated in, you guessed it, sugar and various flavors. I ended up not liking most of the flavors, but those bags sitting around my house are going to do me no good.
Dinner was supposed to be a burger (no bun still) and sweet potato fries from Belly Up but it didn’t pan out because we would have had to pay cover, so instead I met a friend for a drink, where the waiter WAY overpoured my wine to the point where it was almost two glasses.
Then I had spaghetti squash, tomato sauce, and buffalo andouille sausage for dinner. No splurge there, but one of my fave meals.
After dinner I finally got to try these custom chocolate bars I had ordered a while back. The custom part was that I added nuts/peanut butter chips/etc to dark chocolate or semi-dark chocolate bases. They weren’t that good. I don’t know if it was that I don’t have the taste for sugar anymore or that they really weren’t that good, but I was disappointed. I will chop them up and use them in baking, but I haven’t done that yet either!
So there you go. I may be back on the (healthier) drinking wagon, but I am not giving up my starch- and sugar-free lifestyle. It’s just better. I will go back to eating root veggies, and I will cut back on nuts.
But I am happy with my diet! (diet as in manner of eating as opposed to diet as in restricted food groups)
