In a further quest to up my dirty-hippie game, I’ve long been trying to consume less. But as someone who loves fashion, how can I keep my wardrobe fresh without constantly buying new pieces? Enter Poshmark. I first mentioned the secondhand shopping app on last year’s Cyber Monday post. But it’s become a great way for me to consider: do I really, really want this? There is no return policy, there is no instant gratification—even the quickest shipment takes two days to arrive—and there is no guarantee it fits. It also costs $6 more than you think due to shipping. Which means you have to really, really love something to take those risks and pay that premium.
A few recent scores, well below retail. The yoga pants and Coach wristlet even had the tags on!
Selling is less fun, but it gives you a budget to work with—I try not to spend money, only credit on poshmark. New users can use code GUXRQ for $5 off your first purchase, and shop my closet once you’re there!
Re: Upcycling, I’ve also been craving more muscle tanks as we get into summer and sports bras and bikini tops are so cute they’re worth showing off. But in the interest of not buying new, I’ve been experimenting with cutting old tees I’m not wearing into crops or muscle tees. So far, I’m diggin’ the results, although I haven’t settled on the exact perfect cut yet.
