So I drove up to my parents’ house to do my taxes tonight … and there were multiple cars there. Turns out I walked into an impromptu family dinner, so my taxes aren’t done but I get to hang with my fam which is, after all, why I moved back …
And then I grudgingly admitted that I at least needed to blog because I already missed a FGF within the past two weeks and the people in the room suggested these things that I am grateful for:
- The three types of wine that are open RIGHT NOW
- Hula Hut … or, uh, ALOHA HUT
- “My mom’s willingness to do income tax on Friday night” (guess who suggested that one)
- My grandmaster badass dad
- That I live next door to my brother…
- “You’re grateful that he came over yesterday without you even asking to let your dog out to poop”
- That we aren’t at threat of nuclear warfare
- Thank god it’s Friday
… yes, you can tell who suggested each of those, really.
The rest of my list, because those are of course accurate, has to do with people … people are awesome. New work people, friends of friends people, people are just the coolest.
As is this restaurant, Tanuki. More to come on that, even though I’m largely out of the food writing game … sometimes ya just can’t help it. Even better, the weekend that followed dinner here—one of those weekends where you just don’t want the magic to end.
