IN the vein of all the things I would have bought, there are two local Austin shopping events this weekend that I’m pretty excited about, and you should check out if you’re in town.
Shaybazaar is a new site for ethically-sourced, handmade items. Kitty Cohen’s, if you’ve never been, is worth the visit alone: it’s like Palm Springs dropped into the middle of east Austin and added a layer of grunge. There’s a pool.
Understated Leather Sample Sale — sample sales were a fun shopping staple in Southern California, but rarely happen here in Austin. Now you have your chance to dig through tables of old merch, sample merch, and merch that never made it onto the virtual shelves (usually in all sizes, not just 6s or smalls). Fair warning: some sample sales are a complete waste of time, but you won’t know until you go! But the goods from this based-in-Austin Aussie are worth the risk.
