From the Affiliate blog: Read more about the Level 1 Test (PDF) and how it pertains to you.
Bottom line: If you attend a cert, you can get a Certificate of Attendance or A Certification as a Level 1 Trainer. The former doesn’t allow you to train others or open an affiliate; the latter does.
BUT, CrossFit certification still isn’t accredited. They’re applying to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for accreditation and it will take from 6 months to a year to become accredite.
So what? At all the certs moving forward, everyone takes a pencil-and-paper test to get their cert. The rest of us have to go to a Level 1 before December 31 and put our pencils to the paper. Once CrossFit IS accredited, this new, post-April-1 cert will be accredited.
More details are in that PDF, if you’re still curious. It’s definitely a step forward for CrossFit, but until it’s ANSI approved, it’s still not the giant step we’ve all been waiting for.
