I will always be Texan, no matter where I live. My heart is with my home state. Houston is home to much of my family and many friends, and I was part of the group who tried—and failed—to evacuate during Hurricane Rita while I was in school at Rice. Watching Houstonians and Texans band together to help each other has made me exceptionally proud and happy.

Keep an eye on Texas Humor, one of my fave instagram accounts, makers of Texas paraphernalia, and donaters of 100% of their entire store proceeds the last 36 hours—to the tune of $30,000! That’s a ton of money for a small business, and while that campaign is over now, I’m sure they’ll do more. texashumor.com
