Natty, I hope you’re LOLing!!
New Year’s weekend in Tahoe was, as expected, awesome. I love my fifth-wheel fam … er, uh, looks like there are lots of wheels in this photo!
2017 is gonna be good.
A hot topic of conversation (ok, maybe it was just me being fascinated) was the difference between Tetraplegia and Quadriplegia, both terms describing paralysis affecting four limbs, which the The National Spinal Cord Injury Association groups together but apparently doctors use them differently—tetraplegia is a more severe spinal cord injury than quadriplegia. Otherwise, I couldn’t find ANYTHING on the internet that helped explain the difference. And I’m really good at the internet.
It may well just be semantics: Quadriplegia combines the Latin root quadra, for “four”, with the Greek root πληγία plegia, for “paralysis”. Tetraplegia uses the Greek root τετρα tetra for “four”. Quadriplegia is the common term in North America; tetraplegia is more commonly used in Europe.
But maybe everyone is switching over to Tetra in order to be linguistically consistent?
Nonetheless, here are some more Tahoe pics. Kirkwood, Mt. Rose, Diamond Peak. Tahoe, I love you. Every time.
RIP goggles. Sacrificed to the skiing gods.
