I’m on a plane to New Orleans, that I was supposed to be on yesterday. But I had hopped on a plane Monday for two meetings in 48 hours in OC, and when I got back to Austin just couldn’t get everything done in time to take off again.
Though I agonized over the change fee and lost day, it was an amazing decision, a weight was lifted as soon as I made it, and today has been everything a vacation is supposed to be: mostly relaxing, while looking forward to plenty of fun tonight.
It’s so great when decisions work that way.
OC was wonderful, as my friends furnished my guest room and I got to hang with them and their puppy. I got to give baby Hat all the kisses for her first birthday, and spent just enough minutes with her mama to make me miss her sense of humor, her perspective on work and life, and our weekly walks between just us two (three if you count Hat). I got to meet baby OG, three months old, and spend time with my old marketing team. I got to meet my boss of almost a year (!!! remote working ftw), crush it at some meetings, and solidify some work bonds further.
And then, of course, there’s the extra yoga class I got to take with a badass instructor (who happens to be one of my cousin’s best friends), the lawn that finally got mowed, the tickets, and perhaps most import of all, more snuggle time with my precious pup.
Grateful for it all.
