I just completed an eight-page spreadsheet with over 125 parties listed for SXSW, all free or RSVP/invite-only, where there’s an actual place to RSVP. I’m pretty excited. And tired.
Good sources for SXSW info:
FYR – super awesome, with interactive map; unfortunately lists wristband-only parties as well … a lot of other sites take this app and use it, but this is the original spot (with Yaris)

Austin360.com – always a good list of parties

There are obviously many more blogs and lists and such out there, but there’s definitely some reader-fatigue after perusing enough of these … that’s how you get a 125 entries in a spreadsheet spread over 7 pages.
So my friend and I signed up to do promos for FUZE during SXSW. It’s an interesting idea, since it’s kind of my job to check out the promos, and also because we’re definitely on a partying/seeing bands/getting free stuff mission. But we figured we could promo places we couldn’t get into? I don’t know that this will hold true, and this could turn out to be a very bad idea, but we’re going with it.
I’m a little nervous. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m not the hugest music fan ever–I like the scene surrounding it better than the actual music. And since I’m trying to be so careful about what I eat and drink, I don’t know how much partying I am going to want to do … (who am I kidding?! I’m gonna be drinking free beverages for a week straight) … anyway, I’ve never done SXSW before–I bartended last year at the Pure Volume House–and I’m excited about it.
