Presuming Ike doesn’t cancel everything–and that’s a big presumption, since the UT-Arkansas game is already off (though this hoopla continues to amaze me … there’s only a 60% chance of rain tomorrow?!)– this Sunday looks to be a huge Gluten Clash, pitting the gluten-free Got Guts 5K vs. gluten-heavy Italian Festival:
Got Guts 5K Run, Walk and Gluten-free Food Fair
A 100% gluten-free diet means avoiding foods that contain wheat, barley, rye, and oats. Organizers of the Got Guts 5K Run/Walk and Gluten-Free Food Fair hope to further awareness and help those already diagnosed discover a community that understands the gluten-free life. The run/walk is at Walter E. Long and the fair features tons of gluten-free goodies like cookies, nutrition bars, and sports drinks. Here for more info.
LA PIAZZA ITALIANNA Taste of Italy Festival
I love all things Italian. And I’ve always wanted to attend the Italian Festival, so this weekend is my chance! At Laguna Gloria, this year’s festival features a FERRARI Car Show, Aprilia & Ducati scooters, Italian food, gelato, espresso, wine, live music, lyric opera, Roman massages, Bocce games, Mediterranean belly dancing, and more for $10. Here for more info, though really, there isn’t much more info. I guess we just have to go and see!
