The bad thing about a shoulder injury–besides the pain when I lift my arm above shoulder level–is that all workouts become leg-intense workouts. Throw in some abs. ALL. WEEK.
I’m tired of effing squatting. My form has never looked better, and my ass is probably going to be as high and tight(TM)* as it’s ever been, but I’m just really tired of squats. I never liked them to begin with, and now I’m just really annoyed by them. Lunges too.
Gimpy WOD:
400m run
10 deadlift 185#
15 GHD situps
Time: 20:28
It was a smoker of a WOD, plus I REALLY felt the effects of 1) working out hard five days in a row, one day including two workouts, and 2) drinking last night with my brother’s girlfriend until 3am. Not only was I sleep-deprived, but my body was just moving SLOW because of the booze. It was a miserable workout, especially because everyone else was doing Jeremy’s Jesus WOD, mimicking The Way of the Cross. It’s a really grueling workout, but something special to watch. So doing my own long workout while everyone else was taking part in something cool, something just a little bigger than yourself, was mentally discouraging.
Sigh. I’m looking forward to giving my poor booty and hip flexors a break this weekend. At least Doc Kyler says one more week completely off the shoulder and I should be good to go!
*high and tight(TM) – when I was in college, I was wearing tight red pants at a party (because who doesn’t have tight red pants?) and a guy came up to me and said, “Lyssa, I didn’t know your ass was so high and tight” WHILE MAKING A CUPPING MOTION WITH BOTH OF HIS HANDS. It was simultaneously traumatic and awesome.
