New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 revealed some way-fun new nail trends, and I was super excited to try one: butter London’s Matte Finish Shine-Free Topcoat. I did this:
(the greens aren’t that different, it’s the flash. but the shiny-ness is VERY different!) I was so pleased with the matte effect! It’s amazing, and so fun and different.
At the shows, matte nails made an appearance too. KAELEN showed a modern ’80s vibe with this “Distressed Nail” using black as the base with a bespoke nude khaki layered in jagged strokes towards the bed. Details: For added dimension, matted out only the black section, creating a dual-textured look full of disheveled luxury. I’ll try that next!
At ERIN FETHERSTON, the models weren’t wearing bracelets or rings because Erin wanted the nails to be the accessory for the hands. Metallic nails mimicked the look of jewelry, lending itself to the ultimate eye-catching accessory:
Spring ’13 it now: butter’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection has some sassy earthy-but-not-earth-tone jewel tone polishes in Lovely Jubbly (magenta flecked with red, blue, and gold microparticles), Trustafarian (sage green with gold holographic finish) and Dodgy Barnett (grey/silver holographic). $14 each. butter is clean nail polish (no formaldehyde, toluene, DBP or parabens), so give their rad colors a shot!
