Big Mike, who is virtually coaching me while I’m gone, sent me the following combo .com WOD (a combo of Saturday + Sunday’s):
10 min time limit, 1 Rep max SnatchMax: 92 lbsamrap in 8 min
4 HSPU (green bands)
8 KB Swings (20 kg)
12 GHD Situps (regular situps)
Score: 5 rounds
After last night’s shoulder bomb, I wasn’t too excited about taking on this workout a mere 14 hours later, but I have wondered what my snatch max is, so I was hyped for that.
My form felt really good, so I was certain I was going to hit triple digits. Well, I didn’t. But I still feel like I’m getting better and better at the Olympic lifts, so maybe soon I will be able to whip that puppy up over my head, no problem. Women’s top snatch at the Games last year was 135, so I have about 43 pounds to go …
On the 8 min AMRAP, I felt tired. But my HSPUs were strong, and the KB swings were no problem–SO many thanks to Matt Chan from CrossFit Verve for teaching me THE trick to KB swings: breathe out at the top and bottom of each swing. It puts you in this amazing rhythm that manages to both correct my over-extended back and make the swings much more efficient. AWESOME!
Went and bought an ice pack and some MSM to combat the impending soreness.
