Snap Kitchen

In Austin, we’re all busy, we’re all super active, and we’re all worried about our health. Sure, we love our queso and margaritas and gourmet doughnuts and cupcake trailers, but on the regular we like to eat right. Snap Kitchen is a new chef-prepared, healthy take-out food concept that is opening not one, but TWO stores in the next couple of weeks! The flagship location will be at the Triangle, with 2700 sq feet of fresh food for pickup and salads tossed to order (think the NYC salad bars–awesome!).

The second location is at 6th & Lamar next door to lululemon and Waterloo Records, which means CrossFitters, yogis, and hipsters will all be mixing in its little sliver of space for pickup healthy food.

Snap Kitchen will offer portion/calorie controlled meal options and snacks ranging from $3 to $11.  Each meal is prepared daily using fresh, locally sourced, and organic ingredients (when available). Part of the management team includes a Registered Dietitian who will be available by appointment for counseling on calorie intake and other dietary concerns.

Heading up Snap Kitchen’s menu is award-winning Chef and native Austinite Ethan Holmes.  Chef Ethan attended culinary school at the prestigious NECI (New England Culinary Institute) in Vermont (you know I love the Vermonsters).  Snap Kitchen owner and head of operations is Martin Berson, a resident of the Brykerwoods neighborhood (yep, my ‘hood) in Austin. “We are proud to be an Austin-based team, introducing this gourmet approach to healthy, convenient food,” says Berson.  “Being locally owned and operated will ensure that we are able to provide the highest quality of service and food to our fellow fit-minded Austinites.”

I can’t wait to try it and will get back to you as soon as I do!

In the meantime, I’ve just used my Groupon for six My Fit Foods meals, so I’ll be over here with my microwave…
