I’ve railed against and railed against and railed against ripping your hands just to do pullups. It’s an injury, it’s not worth it, and it puts you out of commission for days. BUT today I ripped. And not just a little. Anywhere I didn’t tape, I ripped. I stopped every time I felt a blister turning into a rip and taped, so that by then almost all my fingers were taped, but it was no use. Everywhere else ripped.
I am not proud, they hurt. I am putting band-aids with neosporin on them, because it seemed to help my rip from Friday’s squat cleans. But now I am just covered in band-aids. My right hand fared better, with just one rip, but still.
However, I am excited to learn that I like burpee pullups, which is huge for someone who does not like burpees one bit.
I love training at SicFit, I wish I could all the time. I love not knowing what’s in store, and not really being able to call one thing “the workout” because everything is a workout! What we did today:
Agilities (plus some craziness like the inchworm, the frog, the alligator)
Partner Warm Up: 3 Rounds
Buddy Carry across the gym and back
10 pullups
15 KB Swings (14kg? 16kg? not sure)
Strength:
5-4-3-2-1 Bench Press
Me: 95-105-115-120-125
Metabolic Conditioning:
12-9-6 Burpee pullups + DB squat cleans (*30#)
Me: 9:42?
*Mike said 35#s, but my hands were already sore from warmup pullups and I did lighter weight in hopes of them not ripping. Ironic, now.
It was fun and I enjoy burpee pullups–apparently, this is the one thing tall people have an advantage at in CrossFit–but my hands hurt like hell right now. My triple antibiotic ointment band-aids are NOT strong enough for these rips. It burns and stings 🙁
