YOU GUYS. I have so many good blog posts just waiting to be … written. Whoever talks about the holidays being a more laid-back time at work never worked for a company trying to meet integration deadlines the first week of 2017. I’m as busy as ever with work, plus trying to get in that holiday socializing and dabble in dating (which is only marginally successful, let’s be honest, and I’m real ok with that). Nonetheless, I’m in Austin/Houston this weekend celebrating Christmas with my family, who I love and am always exceptionally grateful for—and who, letsbehonest, spoil the heck out of me. Lattes on the porch in some sweet new Uggs (which I managed NOT to buy whilst living in Colorado, but take me to the cold, damp sand at 6:45am and I am begging for Ugg boots—to keep the sand out—for Christmas).
Today promises a day of shopping, which is a fun newer tradition we started as my brother and I became harder to shop for—my parents still buy us clothes, but we plan on returning most of them and going shopping at Nordstrom Rack, Last Call, then REI, Whole Earth or Patagonia, as a whole family. Everyone gets in on the fun, trying on clothes, modeling, and we are encouraged to choose items we wouldn’t normally buy ourselves (hi, alice + olivia slip dress from last year!).
I’m so grateful for my super-close fam, for loving the hell out of those guys and being lucky enough to get to spend a long weekend doing nothing but hanging out with them.
