Today in retail you never knew was happening, I stumbled upon these CODE Hex Caterpillar sneakers that look like they came from a high-end fashion house, not the dirty corner of a construction site.
At a mere $60 a pop with unisex sizing and leather uppers, these are a true hidden gem. And if the Cat-yellow isn’t your jam, they come in a bunch of other rad colors including red, several shades of blue, and even lilac. Oh, and they come in high-tops (+$5) too! What is this world? Did you even know Caterpillar also has like 86 OTHER types of shoes too? And even beanies and a jacket! This is a (yellow) goldmine!
Are they recycled and sustainable and all that jazz? Not mentioned, so probably not. But if that’s a dealbreaker, check out this other new-to-me Austin-based brand, SUAVS shoes (no I don’t understand the name either), made of recycled plastic bottles (average of 8 per pair) and also available in badass low and high tops.
Breathable and sweat-wicking, they can be packed flat or rolled up for packing. They’re $95 for the lowtops and $115 for the high, but perhaps you’re paying the price for sustainability? Amortized over the course of your shoes’ lifetime, it may not make that big of a $$ difference.
