Apparently, whenever someone compliments me on how “good” I am at yoga, I always respond, “I do a lot of yoga.”
Which is true, and why I needed to upgrade my mat. My almost-three-year-old extra-long Jade had been good to me, but it was shedding blue peelies on me and not as non-slip as it used to be. My internet deep-dive led me a number of places before I decided to try a brand I had never heard of in Scoria’s X-Tall (6’7″) cork mat in Blossom. I wrote about discovering the Scoria brand here, but 6 weeks later I can attest: the cork mat is AWESOME.
The mat felt a bit thin (4.5mm) at first, but it’s springy and stable at the same time in practice. It’s heavy, but all the good mats are. The best part is the grip: you can really move around on it, but when you get sweaty it doesn’t get slippery at all. For this sweaty mcsweaterson, that’s a hearty selling point. And it’s cuter than any mat I’ve ever had! At $117 it’s not cheap, but if you’re anywhere in the “I do a lot of yoga” realm, it’s worth investing in a quality mat given how much time you spend on it.
Bonus! I ordered the ‘OK, But First Yoga’ full length sweatshirt and it’s adorable, in a fitted-but-somehow-still-oversized unisex (medium) way. Had the Upside Down sweatshirt been in stock, I probably would have ordered it instead, and may still have to, I just love the message and graphic so much. Both are only $35 each and come in you choice of full length or crop!
