It’s a confusing bit of mathematical dining calculations, but basically Stortini’s lounge in the back–the Red House Lounge–was a much bigger success than the restaurant she sat in. So they closed Stortini Bistro.
Then, the popular neighborhood bar stole the finer points of its sister restaurant, uh, the pizza, and expanded into the entire space. It’s sort of like the twin fetuses where one eats the other. Except less gross.
“We noticed that most of our clientele was always migrating to the relaxed atmosphere of the Red House Lounge,” says owner of both Red House Pizzeria and the former Stortini Carlos Rivero. “And our most popular menu items at Stortini were our pizzas. So we decided to combine the two concepts for an altogether more approachable atmosphere.”
Basically, it’s a rebrand. In addition to bar bites, the new “Favorites Menu,” includes a Margherita pizza, a Mediterranean-style pie, a house-made sausage and peppers pizza, an expanded list of calzones, and a “build-your-own” option. A BIG perk, the place also offer pizza by the slice, perfect for a happy hour snack.
The new/old Red House Pizzeria is at 1917 Manor Rd. and is open daily from 5pm. Lunch will start after the New Year. I’m thinking the place has to be good if their PIZZA is what they took from the menu, so I can’t wait to try … though I just can’t give up my Mangia …
