TODAY we skied in Taos, New Mexico, and it was awesome. I finished my work day and we grabbed a few hours on the mountain, where we got sunshine and then dumped on – 3+ inches in less than half an hour! Tomorrow is going to be epic.
Making the 12+ hour drive, kinda overnight, worth it. See, Wednesday night we realized this weekend might be our last shot at a ski weekend, and to get Bob up to the mountains with snow. So we booked an airbnb and worked a full day and took off in the hybrid MINI, with Bob snuggled up in the back.
He was an absolute road warrior, and I could not be more excited for future road trips with him! We also get to show him snow for the first time tomorrow, and I can’t wait.
This spontaneous, ridiculous, awesome trip is the best!
Written on Wednesday of this week:
Y’all a lot of times especially in the last year I forget to DO Feel Good Friday but it’s always on my mind, and lingers there until I actually compose it or decide to skip the week. This time, I didn’t even remember that I forgot until Wednesday!
Last week was the toughest work week I’ve ever had—intense, contentious, political, balancing, testing my patience at every turn—and I’m proud of how I handled it but by gawd did it suck. I was so beyond drained last Wednesday that I couldn’t bear the thought of putting avocado on my taco (thus, consuming chicken in shell sprawled on couch).
Friday afternoon, it was 65 and sunny, breaking a cloudy week, and I could bear no other thought than laying in my backyard on a picnic blanket with a bottle of Balanza rosé in a chilled bucket, reading a magazine and reconnecting with my handsome helpful humanitarian warrior. Naturally, FGF did not cross my mind in such a sun-drenched, easy-breezy happy state.
Of course I’m grateful for the week, for the lessons I’m learning, for how I’m growing as a leader. I’m grateful for walks with Bob, snuggles on the couch with Bob, hilarious half-growls from Bob as he tries so hard to be a good boy, all day long. I’m grateful for the fires we got to enjoy last weekend, the family furniture moving events, the lazy Sunday.
This week, I’m grateful for the peloton, once again moved to another house but very accessible and I’ve used it every day(!!) this week! Nothing like biking for rehab again. I’m grateful for contrast therapy at the Kollective, for pilates, for Senita, for Bob, for my family.
