Dubious.
There is no other word to describe how I felt about this IDEA than dubious.
Watch this video (scroll to the bottom for full vid) to see how it’s done, or read on for step-by-step instructions:
1. Wet hair.
2. Place a stretchy headband horizontally around your head. (The front should cut across your forehead, all ’60s hippie-like.)
3. Pull a section of hair about 2 inches wide from the bottom and loop it over and through the headband.
4. Continue to loop sections through until all your hair is up. (Martha Washington is so hot for 2013.)
5. Wait for hair to dry, preferably overnight.
6. Remove headband.
7. Shake out curls, Baywatch-style.
SO. The first time I tried this business, I had fresh-outta-tha-showa hair—very wet. I did the Martha, went to sleep, and woke up with sorta weird curly mostly still damp hair that didn’t dry pretty.
Being the intrepid reporter I am, I gave it another shot, this time with partially-air-dried hair. Twisty headband scenario:
Well, well, well, ladies and gents, this time it actually worked! Me in the morning, still a little dubious:
I brush it out. Hairspray. Go work out. Sweat. Come home. Brush out again. Hair looks phenomenal. I am excited about life. Work a booth at the CrossFit Games outdoors in the sun for 8 hours. Come home again. And this is what my hair looks like after a full day of abuse:
That looks damn good, people, damn good.
I sleep again. Wake up again. HAIR STILL LOOKS GOOD!!!
Conclusion: You can in fact get Spiral Curls while you sleep. Just make sure you also use Garnier Fructis hairspray. Smells amazing, still touchable, and HOLDS those spiral curls in place.
