This is a story of allergies.
Just kidding, except it is … despite being a native, every spring in Austin the allergies KICK MY ASS. I take my daily allergy meds, use my sinus rinse, take all the dirty hippie immune boosters, drink echinacea tea … and still! I had to take a whole damn day off of work on Wednesday.
But, I had worked 12-hour days Monday and Tuesday, so really it evens out … but that’s also why I got so rundown? Y’know, sorting out balance can really be tough. But here’s what I’m saying about my body—it handled my mental and physical health when my brain wouldn’t. Maybe counterintuitive to suggest that being sick is handling my health, but I was beyond stressed, overworked, and physically tired to boot. But I wouldn’t take care of myself, so my precious body had to step in and force me to take a break. I’m on the mend, and trying to be better about really taking care of myself.
But … when so much fun is on offer, how do you say no?! Last weekend I went from SUP to getting ready to go out with a new friend to out, only to wake up after little sleep and hop on a boat meant to last three hours that we cruised until sunset. New friends everywhere, and very happy about the choices. But exhausted all the same. Then jumped into Mother’s Day celebrations—which were SO fun—and yard work. So much for resting.
Enter, body. 🙂 So today, I am so, so, so grateful for my body. I am trying to treat you better, body. I am exceptionally grateful for you.
Also, more to come on this as part of a bigger ‘peep my backyard post’ but a huge part of this week was watching my lawn unfold (literally)!
Also lots of gratitude for my pup, my awesome mama, alcohol-free wine shopping shenanigans with my sister-in-law, roses, so many texts and a new playlist, catching back up with bromance after his ahem trip, the weather, these lakes, good girls the show mainly because I’m obsessed with johnny from graceland, and Tica Lyssa… she’s still here.
