This week has been an insane one. Like, beyond normal I’m-really-busy-and-have-lots-of-things-to-do insane, and into I’m-walking-the-dog-and-burst-out-into-tears insane. It’s mostly of my own making, but nonetheless I am generally very good at keeping things as low stress as possible over here, but this week I failed.
I wasn’t even sure I’d have time to work out today, and it’s storming like crazy, but in a glimpse of blue sky I dashed outside with Nali for a Nature’s Garage Gym modification of a CrossFit Football workout, knowing that nothing cheers me up quite like working out. It went like this:
WOD for time:
Sprint 1/2 Gasser (~56M down the Stein Trail)
20 DB Hang Cleans 50 lbs (rocks ~15# each)
Sprint 1/2 Gasser
15 DB Hang Cleans 50 lbs
Sprint 1/2 Gasser
10 Dumbbell Hang Cleans 50 lbs
Sprint 1/2 Gasser
5 DB Hang Cleans 50 lbs
Sprint 1/2 Gasser
HOLDING ROCKS THAT ARE HEAVY ENOUGH TO BE CHALLENGING IS EFFING HARD. I think the fingerprint on my right thumb is gone. I ripped open one of the blisters I still have as vestiges of SicFit and Burpee Pullups. I had to constantly switch rock hands. But nonetheless I broke a freakin’ sweat, ran some sprints, and was happy afterward.
Then I did some throwing and rock overhead squats before I threw those rocks into the river too. A nice hill sprint up the stairs of death finished me off.
Now I am happy. And am going to go eat chicken and butternut squash and broccolini for dinner.
