Towels are one of those items in which you don’t think about what you want until you have to really freakin’ figure out what you want and then you wonder: do I want soft towels? Light towels? Big towels? Small towels? Absorbent? Am I going to lounge in them?
It’s exhausting.
In my new fabulous house though I was determined to have LUXURIOUS towels, and spent hours researching + spreadsheeting accordingly. In the end, I settled on three makers and this is my completely unscientific report:
The Graces – My first choice for myself, these promised organic luxury with fast drying properties. At $38/bath sheet (“oversized towel”) and $18/hand towel, I spent $110 for two bath sheets and two hand towels. They only come in taupe and white, so I ordered taupe. They’re … fine. They’re lightweight and dry quickly, yes, but they don’t deliver a luxury feel. What does luxury feel like? Soft, plush perhaps. Here’s the crazy part: don’t like the towels? They will refund your money, no questions asked. I respect the company, but didn’t like the towels.
Macy’s Hotel Collection – I decided on these towels for the guest bath because they came highly reviewed by bloggers and as far as I can tell are literally always on sale. But while I felt like they were nice enough, the first guests to use them said absolutely NOTHING about them (though, they were boys).
Costco – Sometimes it’s just time to throw in the, er, towel, and go with the old standby: Costco ain’t known for quality for nothing. For a mere $26, I got two luxurious, fluffy, soft, bright blue bath sheets that are both organic and getting better with every wash. I love them. I want to buy one million more but obviously need no such thing.
Say you’re not a giant human and want a normal-size towel … well you can have two for just $16!
+ 2 hand towels and 2 washcloths for a mere $11.
And so I must highly, highly recommend these fabulous towels. I can’t speak to any other colors, but my blue ones are a vibrant shade I adore.
While you’re there, you might also snag this $69 king-sized sateen sheet set, which while not ticking off the organic cotton box, are at least made from cotton grown in the US. I’m also not generally a sateen person, but these aren’t too shiny and are ridiculously soft after just one wash. Steal.
