Tuesday, my internet went out. For all my technical knowledge I could do nothing except be on hold—chat and phone, through three devices—with customer service for hours. Once I had the tech scheduled for the next day, I suddenly, irrevocably, absolutely could NOT anymore.
I could not work, I could not use my hot spot, I could not walk, I could not yoga. I simply could not.
I walked to my refrigerator, got my bottle of Teutonic Sprockets that I’ve been waiting to drink, and went out to the backyard with a bag of popcorn and a podcast.
And I sat there, in a chair, for hours, in the sun, drinking that bottle of (11%) wine.
My brother invited me to the front yard. I said, no, this is really a backyard kind of situation.
I eventually made it to the front yard, ordered food, downloaded a book to read on my phone, and survived the night. And when the next day came and brought no resolution to my internet woes, not one by two visits by the same tech who at least only started hitting on me at the end, I was more resigned to my fate.
Today, internet is restored, and I’ve had it all day. The luxury! I probably don’t need to tell you NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO BE WITHOUT INTERNET.
However, I am some sort of personal tech vortex right now, because everything tech-y around me is breaking. Ninja? Caput. Milk foamer? Weird grindy sound, about to die. Headphones? Completely MIA. So this may be a low-tech week for this kid.
Other things I’m grateful for:
Honey-dipped hair! We did the quarantine hair thing … the neighbor and I highlighted our hairs with the Revlon Frost & Glow kit and are NOT part of the quarantine hair fails. Watching YouTube vids is KEY.
Sunday Faux VB Zoom with all the kiddos. Work Wife catch-up call with so many giggles. Regular chats with a Bromance.
ADULT KIDDIE POOL! Busting it back out this weekend and am so excited.
Doga … my backyard, Mexican blanket yoga studio complete with happy pupper who gives no effs about my yoga poses in her space. Denali is the best.
Last but not least, still in love with my bball hoop, which, it turns out, also doubles as a bungee pole for ThirdMonkey workouts!
It should also be said: I cannot wait to travel again. I am restless. I haven’t been in one place this long since I can remember, college maybe? But, I am so grateful that my one place is a beautiful home with awesome neighbors and plentiful yards(work).
