Mesa Verde. Pagosa Springs. Santa Fe. Maria’s margarita hands down the best marg I’ve ever had, and salsa. Gruet. Tiny towns in Texas where all coffee shops on the map were no longer in business. My five-day reset, refresh road trip to pick up Lady Tabitha White Top, the new-to-me hybrid electric MINI I picked up in Montrose, Colorado was exactly what I needed. Cool air. Hikes. Mountains. Pants. Open road. Time alone. Grateful.
I miss Nali.
I miss the pitter patter of her paws. I miss her dubious stare out of the closet, or her wander over to the bath tub to investigate what I’m doing (bathing). I miss her sniffing at whatever I’m eating at the coffee table. I miss her tossing her kibbles on the floor as she checks for poison. I miss taking walks with her, miss her limpy gait and her quick gait and I even miss the times I had to worry about her smelling other dogs and how she or they might react. I miss her snuggles and her soft ears.
I am so grateful for the continued outpouring of love and support for me and her—anonymous donation to humane society, thank you—and grateful for the time I had with her. And I still miss her.
I’m grateful for my early birthday present, a sit/stand adjustable deck! It caused a little house rearrange and slight furniture purge (goodbye office couch no one liked sleeping on, certainly not Zieg when it collapsed int he middle of the night because I forgot to put down the extra legs) but I do love keeping things fresh in my house. It’s brand new again without all of Nali’s runners covering the wood floors, and now a few rooms have changes too—including a dedicated workspace for friends and neighbros who visit!
Grateful that my life continues to be full, even in the absence of my beloved pup.

Last but not least, while we’re on the topic of cars … missing Ginger Lynne, the ’83 CJ7 Jeep I rocked in Southern California. Where I had to strap Nali in because there was no top and no doors…
