Solidarity + Clarity + Austerity
I first titled this post “New Month, New Me,” but it’s already October 9 so it’s not really new depending on how you round, but because that’s all arbitrary anyway, who cares? Besides, you’re never a new you, you’re always just a version, growing or declining, not new, just you.
The point, though, is this me is tired of drinking (and loves wine!) and tired of spending money (but loves to be able to!) and wants to change so is cutting myself off of both cold turkey, today. (Until 10/31, when I leave for an already-planned trip to Philly.)
Rules of Engagement (made to be broken):
1/ No booze. No wine, no whiskey, no white claw, no “but it was a really stressful day”, no “but we need to celebrate x, y, or z”, no drinks with clients. Possible drinking at cousin’s wedding, game time decision.
2/ Money may be spent on food or fitness only. Which specifically disqualifies:
- Clothes of any kind
- Beauty products of any kind (shit, should have stocked up on Paula’s Choice before this! almost out of face sunscreen…)
- Products advertised to me on ig that I like (lolz except real)
- Travel (eeeek! but what about _____? didn’t book it yet, not going)
- Booze (see 1/)
Open to qualification/interpretation:
- Plants, because I wanted to redo my yard and haven’t planned that yet
Wish me luck.
