Are you supposed to get your friends going away presents when you’re the one leaving? I did (these wish bracelets), and wrote them love letters, because they are the best. Perhaps it’s worth sharing a few snippets, in celebration of the girl friendships formed in five years living in OC that will be some of the strongest of my lifetime. It’s been about six months since I moved, and I miss the amazing women who made my life there so special even more every day.
To the one who is coming this weekend to visit,
You’ve taught me how to open up to and rely on someone—how to truly be a friend. Your intellect, wit, sense of adventure, and sensibility have inspired, challenged, and grounded me. I can’t imagine life without you, and I am confident I won’t have to as we travel, gchat, and tag each other in memes states away.
To the one I’ll see next weekend in Mammoth,
While I am confident that we will stay BEST FRIENDS FOREVER, I do want to take this opportunity to tell you how much you mean to me. You are an incredible person, this amazing mix of incredibly successful career woman, ridiculously graceful mom, hilarious wife to another person I love—thanks for so graciously sharing him and folding me so easily into your life as a couple (and fam)!
And a couple other snippets:
- Thank you for absorbing me as your 3rd, 5th, sometimes 7th wheel and never thinking twice about it.
- We’ve been instant, easy friends since the beginning and there isn’t anyone I trust more. You’re strong, supportive, demanding (in the best way) … and expect the best out of people and accept nothing less.
- When they say surround yourself with people who inspire, raise you up, and encourage you to be better—that’s you.
Here’s to the many other beautiful friendships I’m so lucky to enjoy across the globe (!!), and to the deep friendships I have with my family alongside our obvious kinship. Adult friendship can be hard to forge and maintain, but I am so grateful I’ve been able to find such amazing people to share my life.
