I fully intended to write a full post on the Chicago airport gym, but now it swirls around in my head with the other travelin’ gyms and workouts I did, so it will just be one of a list:
Chicago: Hilton hotel gym at the airport (you DO have to leave security). Has an Olympic rack, which is rare and awesome, so I was happy. Also has a pool and hot tub, which I didn’t have time for but certainly could have used. Plenty of cardio machines if that’s your thing, with free weights and machines too. The locker rooms are spartan but nice, and the lockers big enough to hold baggage, which is critical.
Burlington: The Double Tree Hotel had a rower in the gym! I was so excited I tweeted.
I attempted the .com workout of 5 x 3 deadlift, but the biggest dumbbells they had were 50#, so 5 x 3 at 100# wasn’t exactly a challenge. After that, I worked on my rowing form.
Denver: The whole wedding party stayed at the Sheraton, and I laughed when I made it down to the gym the morning of the wedding—over half the wedding party was there too! We’re an athletic bunch. The hotel has a nice fitness center and their 360-degree fitness program, but no Olympic weights. So I did the .com workout 800m run + 30 C&J + 800m run on a treadmill and with 35# dumbbells. Better than nothing!
I also did some yoga in my hotel room … and threw in some 1-legged burpees whenver I had a chance, and every night before bed. Overall, I did pretty well sticking to .com training! 🙂
