[UPDATE: It’s not just me! A friend came into town, wore the Catch Me If You Can top for two days straight, then flew home with the top to Aspen, promising to send me money and join Ellie … she even said what we’re all thinking and afraid to say … it’s better than that other brand. So there’s someone else’s two cents, via me.]
I loved pvbody and blogged about it several times in the short months it existed … but it seems like everyone else loved it as much as I did, and the business model of mailing overstock from cool athletic lines just wasn’t viable. So the pvbody staff took a new tack: designing their own line, Ellie, with some of the elements of pvbody—you can pay $49.95 to subscribe (use this link for 20% off the ellie sub) and get a surprise shipment every month—and some new elements—you can order a specific top and bottom as part of your subscription, or order a la carte.
They planned to send me a sample in anticipation of their February launch, but in true Ellie fashion they already had an insane demand for their incredible new workout line and I didn’t get to try the goods until mid-month! If only all endeavors could be so successful … anyway, they sent me a top and bottom to try from the new line:
The Catch Me If You Can top, $39.95, is, I kid you not, my new favorite shirt in life. I have worn it three nights in a row when I got home from work. It’s soft, sleek, and warm. But cool when I put it on after sweating. I mean, it’s magic. The color is gorgeous. It comes in gray too. And pink short sleeve. It’s ridiculous how much I love this shirt already. With thumbholes and fold-over hand covers. EllieSofTex and EllieMesh fabrics.
I am less in love with the Love Struck Legging, $69.95. They fit well and are comfortable, but the heather gray has a sheen—which is why I was drawn to them, obvi—that it turns out is not all that flattering on me. Don’t get me wrong, I will still wear the heck out of these pants and they’ll probably end up first in rotation (yes, I said that. Above the lulus). Water and wind resistent, made of EllieTex and SportMesh. They just don’t inspire the same kind of obsessive passion as the Catch Me If You Can top. Which I might have to order in more colors.
Or should I wait ’til they release their March collection?! They release a new collection every month, and supposedly you can’t go back to the previous month’s collection (the whole supply, demand, and scarcity thing).
Decisions! To recap: $49.95 gets you two pieces a month—you pick them from each month’s collection, or they mail you surprises if you don’t pick (or skip) by the 7th. Like the old pvbody, YOU can save 20% on Ellie with THIS link!
I’ll keep you posted on the March collection, and if it inspires as much love as this one!
