Technically, this is the 5th day of the diet part of the HCG Diet. The first 2 are loading, and the more I don’t eat now the more I wish I had eaten then … an oreo brownie? a BeauJo’s veggie pizza? Chocolove chocolate bars are on sale? Man I could have eaten all that in my 2 days!
Still on the road, had an apple and black coffee for breakfast around 9:30. I’ve never been much of a breakfast eater, but since I don’t really agree with low-fat eating either I figure I’d better not argue with the protocol and just do what they say … it’s only for 21 (23) days. Had breakfast part 2 of a salad from Whole Foods (spinach, zucchini, cabbage, green pepper) at 10:30.
Lunch at Chipotle where I had some not-delicious chicken. I love Chipotle’s barbacoa but was avoiding it because I assumed it was too fattening. A quick google revealed that while they may not use leanest cut of meat, cooking barbacoa style is actually very lean! DANGIT. And worse? I chose chicken, which I don’t even like very much to begin with, and a quick search of Chipotle.com reveals isn’t free-range. WTF?! I’ve been had!!
Lesson: Next time at Chipotle (anywhere?), I’m going with what I love. Barbacoa if the meat is free-range (in 85% of Chipotles it is, it is in Austin Chipotles, it isn’t in Denver Chipotles), carnitas if not (pork, which is free-range everywhere, cooked barbacoa-style).
Arrived back in Aspen after driving through a snowstorm, and drank a fiber shake. Then ate some cabbage soup. Then went to the gym. Finally could weigh myself again!
Only lost 1 pound. Now, I know there are a host of factors blah blah including weighing yourself later in the day isn’t as accurate, you can weigh more if you haven’t pooped or you drank a lot of water or whatever. So I’m not worried. But I would like to see more results, please. 🙂
Side note: I worked out HARD. I did this workout from Roaring Fork CrossFit (6 Rds: 3 Power Snatch, 5 lateral burpees, 7 C&J, 9 front jumps over bar, Rx 65#) in 12:30. Warmup 250 single unders in 1:40 and cool down 250m row in 58 seconds. So you can work out hard on this diet.
I also took Before pics, finally. I know, I know, 5 days in isn’t the best time to take Before pics, but better late than never!
Then I ate dinner, a delicious 3.5 ounces of ground beef and cauliflower frice leftovers plus saute-steamed kale with himalayan sea salt. SO GOOD. About an hour later, 1/2 cup strawberries for dessert.
This train is going, and having this blog is really helping keep me accountable, so thanks to the ones who are following along!
