I am grateful for my yoga practice, and how it centers/grounds me.
I spend a ton of my time playing a lot of sports, CrossFitting with friends, hitting the gym solo, and doing yoga. I LOVE all of these things.
But sometimes, I start to wrap too much of my identity in these things and when I start identifying so deeply with sports that I lose sight of my value outside of them, bad things happen (think: hamstring). I’ve gotten a few warning signs lately—a knee tweak, a shoulder pull, a crunchy back—and while I’ve tried to take it easy on hitting the gym, I’ve been so busy playing the football, basketball, and volleyball that I’d already committed to that it hasn’t been enough recovery to just hit the gym less frequently. And forget trying to fit yoga in there as a workout.
But as a brain break, refresher, relaxation place? So necessary.
I have to.
So I do. And that’s why I yoga. Thanks to CorePower Yoga (Irvine Jamboree ftw) for the reminder.
