I went to brunch in Houston at Quattro, the Four Seasons’ restaurant. If the Austin Four Seasons brunch at Trio is anything like its sibling, I need to get there stat. I’ve heard it’s good, but seriously, if it’s this good, it’s high time we put it on the list of things to do.
Quattro’s $50+ dollar brunch held four luxurious stations: a breakfast buffett, a dessert buffett, an antipasti/seafood/sushi/kids buffett, and a hot-dish lunch buffett. It was astounding. The food was all fresh, delicious, and surprisingly healthy. There were few creamy, heavy dishes to be found, instead, the focus was on beautiful prepared and seasoned foods.
I tried Oysters Rockefeller for the first time and ate more crab claws than I have ever consumed in my life. I had a fantastic seared tuna, lightly sauteed veggies, and perfectly roasted sweet potatoes and rutabagas. I went back for seconds of a French Toast Crepe with cranberry chutney, and snagged tons of fresh berries off of the breakfast bar.
The food choices were amazing, and unlike at some other buffetts, not one disappointed. Their desserts didn’t dazzle me, but I had already stuffed myself with French Toast Crepe and had a mimosa, so who really needs dessert at that point anyway? Oh, okay, I tried a chocolate chip muffin too…
Is Trio this good? And more importantly, perhaps eclipsing all questions: Do they serve popovers with their brunch? Because that would be the icing on the cake–not that they had cake, but you know.
