OK, enough with the exclamations it’s just so hard to convey how wonderful the past two weeks have been, starting with a ridiculously early flight for an equal ridiculous 9-hour layover with my bestie, where we got the most ridiculous mismatching peachy-o tattoos, to a funny lakeside stay in a cabin with rented sheets, to moving in temporarily in Bend … coffee on the porch, lunch delivered prison-style to this worker chained to her computer, dinners around the family table with giggles and wine followed by fire pit, work breaks with an equally successful friend who gets it, walking and talking … all last week added up to mellow times with friends that feel like family are the best.
The weekend was decidedly not mellow, as we SURPRISE! got engaged at our friends’ vineyard and bnb, Balanza! My helpful handsome humanitarian warrior planned a fabulous Friday night proposal, and we got to enjoy a pizza cookout with friends and family, and a stealthy photographer who took stunning photos. We started each day with an epic family breakfast before wine-tasting the rest of the weekend away, and discovering new favorites. A serendipitous cameo by my summer camp bestie made everything that much sweeter!
This week, I hunkered down to work during the day, peppering the work day with cool-air patio sitting and frequent vineyard road walks. It was heaven. At night, we had delicious food all over the valley, lots of time with family and friends, and headed to bed early because working east coast hours whilst on the west coast is hard. We head out to Portland for the night tonight, and home tomorrow after two weeks!
I miss Bob.
This trip has been the absolute best, filled with amazing friends and family, perfect weather, delicious food and drink … I’m so happy. So grateful. So so so grateful for this love of all kinds, this life of love … and, oh!, a FIANCÉ!
