I’m having a hard time deciding what I’m most thankful for this year. An abundance of blessings is perhaps the most I could be grateful for, but let’s also acknowledge that I make the choice to be grateful for the wonderful–and not so–things in my life. Perhaps that’s what I’m most grateful for, the awareness I’ve cultivated, with plenty of help, over the years.
This year was hard.
I started a new job that I love that quickly turned into a high-stress situation through an acquisition and changing structures and responsibilities. I am happy at work, but it hasn’t been easy.
I ended two meaningful relationships. I am finally free of a thing that had haunted me for so long. But it hasn’t been easy.
I have struggled to find purpose in workouts, something that provided me so much fulfillment before. And it hasn’t been easy making the decision to allow my body to change in response to the change in my focus.
So on Thanksgiving, this selection of my favorite places from the past year should do the gratitude trick. It sums up that I am grateful for the choices I’ve made, the life that I have designed, and the possibility and promise of adventures to come.
