Happy belated mother’s day to my amazing mama, who is just the best. We unofficially celebrated early Saturday when I spontaneously walked over to her house, had a latte at ye olde Latte Link, and we chatted for a bit. We officially celebrated on Sunday too, but with my brother, husband, and two kiddos under three, the focus is less on mom and more on containing chaos while being together. Don’t worry, there was a Starbuck Family Mother’s Day, simultaneously the weirdest and best holiday tradition my family upholds.
If you ever wondered who still has a scanner and who still uses it … I found out today.
But back to accolades for the most fashionable fixing-to-be-70 mama around: she buys housewarming presents for my friends, she hawks used gym equipment and stores it too, she always brings Bob a treat, she literally returned something recently by sticking the jacket inside the door while not looking so as to respect our privacy but did go ahead and say “mmmm smells good in here” because it was dinner time (seriously though, privacy boundaries are critical when you live next door to your brother and 2 miles from your parents), she gives tia more credit than she deserves, she refused dinner plans while I was babysitting “just in case” … and these little bits of gratitude are all from last week.
If there’s a mama more dedicated to mom-ing, show me (with apologies to at least 3 people who read this blog). And I’m so grateful for her.
