I spent 52 hours in Aspen last weekend, and I left feeling so incredibly grateful, refreshed, and grounded. I got to spend amazing quality time with some of my best girlfriends through pants-less couch time, fancy dinners, basement bars, hot tubs, lifts, bowl hiking, glasses of champagne, and skiing. We talked, laughed, commiserated, giggled, dreamed, schemed, flirted, danced, gave advice, and complimented each other. As a tomboy to the core whose brother was always her best friend, it took me a long time to really understand the importance of girl friendships—the unique experience of being a woman can only be shared with other women. So these Aspen women, strong, independent, creative, supportive, silly, athletic women really help fill my soul.
Upon returning home … I have awesome girl groups here in Newport Beach too! From Friday morning volleyball to beach football to CrossFit Balbabes to that time I coerced my gymmates to play turf football with me to my amazing roommate. Badasses, all of them.
I’ve booked a girls weekend reunion in Portland at the end of March with a group of four girls living in four different states: DC, Texas, New Mexico, and California.
My mom is one of my best friends.
Today I am grateful for girlfriendships.
Feel Good Friday is a gratitude list I’ve written once a week for OVER THREE YEARS (170+- posts). It’s time for a format change—I’ll key in on one thing each week I’m incredibly grateful for, and end each post with a list if necessary. Join me and leave anything you are grateful for in the comments. Click here for last week’s gratitude post.
