Crispy and doughy are generally opposites, but somehow the crust on my pizza at Enoteca Vespaio managed to be both, with a sprinkling of crunchy salt on top. It was amazing. In fact, the whole pizza was absurdly delicious, in a decadent, can’t-eat-it-every-day way. I mean, I could eat Mangia every day and die happy (possibly a little chubby). But the PESTO PIZZA at Enoteca, while it certainly knocked my socks off, would wear me out.
Atop the astounding crust was a smattering of delicious basil-tastic pesto, dots of Pure Luck cheese–little explosions of flavor in my mouth–and maybe some tomatoes or something, I don’t know … I don’t even know that I looked at the pizza I was so busy savoring it and trying my darndest not to shove it all in at once. It was rich, rich, rich, and I was beyond happy I was sharing it with a friend rather than attempting to eat it all myself. It’s definitely a once-in-awhile meal.
I also had the spinach salad, and the dressing was way too tangy for my liking. The salad was beautifully presented and appeared very gourmet–and the candied walnuts were delish, but how do you screw those up?–but I was sad I couldn’t enjoy it more as my leaves were all drowning in overly-vinegared vinaigrette.
Bottom line: so glad I’ve tried the place everyone talks about, but I don’t know how often I’ll return–I don’t need my meals to be this decadent! I thoroughly enjoyed my company though. 🙂
