We ALL know not to eat that junk, right? I’m pretty good about it–particularly the gluten, less so the sugar.
But yesterday was my birthday. And That Ripped Guy of Mine(TM) was going to make me an almond flour cake but ran out of time, so after a sunset picnic atop Aspen Mountain (awwwwww!), he treated me to Paradise Bakery (home of the oatmeal chocolate chip chipper cookies, little tiny delicious bites). I had a chipper AND another full cookie.
This morning, I woke up groggy, with a headache, and my throat feels tight, like it’s closing in on itself.
I’ve heard plenty of tales like this, of gluten and grain and sugar making people feel like complete crap. But they were always OTHER PEOPLE who this happened to. Even my friends, but NOT ME.
Well hell, now it’s me.
Am I Celiac? I don’t know, and it doesn’t really matter. I shouldn’t be eating this stuff either way. Especially not when I can make an equally-delicious version with hazelnut meal, palm sugar, and dark chocolate and suffer no side effects when I want a treat or birthday indulgence.
It’s bad for my health, my skin, my mood, and my happiness. Why would I eat it?
Eff gluten and sugar. Effing gluten and sugar.
