I’ve been at the 500-calorie part for a full week now. It’s still weird, but getting used to it. It’s hard when my friends come into today and we’re talking about dinner and I feel like I’m holding everyone back from going out to eat and going our drinking. It’s hard when I’m walking through the grocery store thinking about what I COULD eat but what I’m not eating. It’s hard when That Ripped Guy of Mine(TM) is sipping a whiskey on the rocks next to me and I’d love a nightcap too.
But I do feel like it’s working. I don’t feel like I’ve lost 7 pounds, but that’s pretty much my fault for not weighing myself consistently to start so I’d know for sure. For the next 14 days, I will know if I lose 14 pounds or not. Today I weighed in the morning and lost a pound from yesterday, so that’s the right track!
I have noticed that working out hard is a little harder. You know when you work out really really really hard (like 4 CrossFit WODs in a day, Fittest Games? Or a Lumberjack hero WOD?) and afterward you just can’t fathom doing anything, particularly not something so difficult as lifting your arm or walking up stairs? I’ve been getting that way after my workouts, and they aren’t as intense as what should be causing that. For instance, today I skiied a run and snowboarded a run and felt EXHAUSTED. Granted, I’m learning to snowboard so it’s always exhausting, but it shouldn’t be so exhausting that I have to come home and watch a Bachelor marathon on DVR.
I felt great after yoga though, even though it was intense yoga (the workshop with Kelly Morris at King Yoga!). So that doesn’t quite make sense. Still investigating, and tomorrow should be a full day of skiing so we’ll see how I feel.
