Oh, hello, we haven’t talked about The CrossFit Open Sectionals in awhile, have we? In light of yesterday’s announcement, let’s talk. Here’s WOD 1, known by the cool kids as 11.1.
11.2: AMRAP 15 minutes: 9 DL (100#), 12 pushups with release, 15 box jumps (21″). I filmed on my own. It still hasn’t been “validated” so I’m not sure what’s going on, and as you can imagine, the overwhelmed Games support staff hasn’t been able to clarify anything for me. But that also means I can’t see where I am in the rankings! Boo. I only got through 7 rounds + 9 deadlifts of this one … the pushups with release killed me!
11.3: AMRAP 5 minutes: Squat Clean & Jerk 115#. I got to do at CrossFit Austin and got through 22 Rounds, which is 22 Squat Cleans and 22 Jerks (Thrusters). Yay! Finally a workout I did decent on!
11.4: AMRAP 10 minutes: 60 bar-facing burpees, 30 OHS 90#*, 10 muscle-ups. Announced yesterday, this caused a little bit of a stir for two reasons: one, it’s another AMRAP, and two, it has a hugely technical (muscle-up) movement in it. The good news here is that unlike handstand pushups at Sectionals last year, the muscleups are last, which means I and others who can’t do muscle-ups can still complete at least a partial round of the workout. And it’s a brutal partial round at that. So it’s still mostly fun for everyone.
*I read the men’s workout, so I went to the gym today to make sure I can even DO 120# overhead squats. Luckily, the answer is yes, and I don’t have to. 🙂
I’m planning on filming 11.4 on Friday, so I’ll keep you posted… anyone else competing in the Games? How’s it going?
