COVID Checklist Week 5

A special section for special times. This is what kept me covidtained? this week. Last week’s hereWeek 3’s hereWeek 2’s here. There is no Week 1 because we didn’t know back then.

Workouts because fitness is the only constant in this mess

  • Still at all the yogas.
  • It is no secret I love Power Athlete and think they are the smartest strength & conditioning group in the game (and am admittedly incredibly biased as my old roommate is part of the crew). You can do their fun, killer Third Monkey workouts along with me using this link. But there’s more! Their quarantine “daily roasts brew” are hilarious youtubes of them sitting around chatting at 6am before they workout. It feels like real life, when you’re at the gym early (not that I ever was at 6am!!) or late just hanging out. Give it a listen/watch on YouTube.
  • To the man I keep running into whilst walking our dogs, hello!

Socializing

  • Skip Netflix party; no one wants to watch on desktop. Do FaceTime one friend, and add a lot more friends!
  • Super excited for a Sunday afternoon faux patio hang with my old Newport crew. Like travel, the anticipation makes the socializing that much sweeter!

Community

Entertainment

  • FREID BY NOON podcast from comedian Jared Freid, 42 minutes of fun every day of the coronavirus crisis.
  • Outer Banks premiered on Netflix yesterday and I am addicted. If you need me, I will be watching 10 hours of teen drama and not emerging until I am finished (yes I’m 35 leave me alone).
  • ESPN & Netflix blessedly moved up the premiere of the TWENTY HOUR documentary about Michael Jordan. The firs four-hour drop is this Sunday April 19 on ESPN or Monday on Netflix!
  • Finished reading several books… Jessica Simpson’s Open Book is okay—the celebrity scoop is fun, but the book is only meh. It seems like everyone is reading Normal People by Sally Rooney and it IS good; the first third of it was really promising but fizzles out a bit at the end. That said, I didn’t WANT it to end, so it’s worth reading.

Feed Me: Recipe Chain Letter

Why are my friends sending me this?! We all know I open a bag of salad and put cheese on top of it; or cook a steak and some veggies. I mean, I like to experiment in the kitchen, sometimes, I guess. Anyway.

  • Double Tree released its v. famous cookie recipe, which is awesome. However, why does the recipe make 26 cookies?! Like, is someone making a pan of just two cookies? OR DO THEY KNOW I’M GOING TO EAT THAT MUCH DOUGH?
  • Trying to be healthier than decadent Double Tree cookies? I had all but forgotten about Chebe’s Cinnamon Roll mix, which I used to make alllll the time, but found it deep in the pantry and made Sunday morning cinnamon rolls! They’re small and dense, so don’t compare their texture to their bad-for-you counterparts, but the flavor is definitely there. (g-free, uses tapioca flour)
  • Better Half in Austin is still doing happy hour, delivery, and their spicy chicken sandwich is the greatest thing I’ve eaten this entire quarantine.

Other: Hairs & Wine

  • Probably gonna try bronding myself at home this weekend. That should be fun. But as I told my haircutter when he cut my lob right before we went into shelter in place restrictions: “if I don’t like it, no one will see me!” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GsJgtnxfg8&t=455s
  • My favorite wine blogger is doing an ‘Intoxicating Conversations‘ video series with winemakers and other wine people on youtube. Production quality is low but insights are high!
