I don’t even know. Week 9. Week 8. Week 7. Week 6. Week 5 here. Week 4 here. Week 3’s here. Week 2’s here. There is no Week 1 because we didn’t know back then.
Workouts
- I finally tried The Class, which is therapy in the guise of calisthenics, and I kind of hated it but loved it at the same time. 14-day free trial with livestream classes all day errrrryday.
- A rep from a Starting Strength franchise in Houston reached out to me—unclear how I got on his radar—but I deeply respect the Starting Strength model (the first one in Austin opening on Anderson right around the time I moved back). Read their perspective on gyms reopening here. And then read their unfiltered perspective on gyms reopening here.
Daydream Wednesday
- Charleston in June? OC in July? Road trips? When does Big Bend reopen? GET ME OUT OF HERE.
Social/Community
- SUP dogs. Socializing on the SUP is lifesaving.
- Join Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s pep rally via facebook + display your support!
- Presented without commentary: an OMG scrolling experience on wealth.
Entertainment
- THIS IS THE BEST THING ON THE INTERNET TODAY. Dad, How Do I youtube channel has gone viral, and for good reason—everyone’s new dad is the sweetest, most genuine man to ever make a youtube video. [My own dad, who has received many “Dad, how do I?” calls, had to rush over to my house last week to help me remove a piece of errant cinderblock from MY EYEBALL. This is not a covered scenario.]
- File it under things I never would have watched if not in quarantine: remember my Chisos cowgirl boots I love with my whole heart? We’re deeply, deeply nerding out on boot construction over here.
- Goodbye minutes to hours of your life, hello Astronaut.io. It’s a website that plays a few seconds of random YouTube videos with almost no views. It’s in all languages, and of anything. via Recomendo (which I also, ahem, recommendo).
- As an ’80s baby, I feel like I didn’t actually watch a lot of these 80s classics. Now I might.
Ecomm
- Ben & Jerry’s is just the best. In yet another hilarious stroke of genius, they collab-ed with Nike to release a sneaker called the CHUNKY DUNKY. Brilliant. Unbelievable. Perfect.
- If tie-dye sweatsuits won the earlier part of the pandemic, caftans are most certainly winning the warm-weather portion. An article, a caftan, and a pocketed maxi dress.
- Local Austin artist Eliana Bernard just released more of her stunning ceramics. At $52/mug they’re not in the pandemic budget, but they’re beautiful to click through anyway.
