I finally took my Level 1 cert test this weekend. I got certified over a year ago, but they changed the standards to be accredited so I had to take a new test—I passed! 🙂
But it also reminded me a little something about the CrossFit Kool-Aid. SO much of what CrossFit is about is the community. Is people who want to be SicFit. Who want to push their physical limits. Who are willing to forgo grains. It’s not just girls with ripped abs who can do muscle-ups, it’s the completely non-athletic girl who suffers through WODs she never thought she’d ever take on.
Being in Aspen has distanced me from that community. I can only watch from afar as my old coaches and friends take on all the Open WODs together, as they all do Spartan 300, as they all play together. I still feel a part of the community, just from far away instead of in the thick of it.
Being at the cert for just a few hours reminded me about what fun the CrossFit community is. It reminded me that I’ve been half-assing my CrossFit workouts just a little bit, hiding behind programming for myself. So I’m going to commit to doing the .com workouts until the Games. Now, if I can do them outside with rocks and sticks, I will. So my workouts may not be exact. But they’ll be .com.
Today happens to be a rest day on .com, so I did yoga. 🙂
And maybe, someday soon, BlissFits will turn into the community here!!
