Well, this checklist should be focused on snowpocalypse things to do, because … well, it’s a pandy blizzy in Austin. Alongside snow that’s sticking, power outages (not here), and a boil-water notice, there’s a lot of commentary making social justice issues out of … things that aren’t. Not understanding why we can’t focus on the amazing ways the community is stepping up for its neighbors again and have the necessary post-mortem conversations once we’re at the post- stage?
If you’re in Austin, keep up to date with what’s open on @WhenWhereWhatAustin‘s spreadsheet here.
Entertainment
- Register now and save the date (March 4 at 6pm) for an awesome virtual cooking demo put on by Tomorrow’s Leaders supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The event is free and virtual, so anyone can and should join!
- Should you be ready to dive into a mature analysis of what exactly is happening in Texas re: the power grid, check this post out.
- Without internet for four days, we’ve been playing games, calling friends to catch up, and taking long wanders around a frozen neighborhood. It’s refreshing in its own way to have access to the outside world but not relegate ourselves to watching shows and zoning out.
Wine Me
- One of my favorite winemakers discusses a new-to-me grape that I want to try!
