Live from Brazil … lest you think I forgot your covidtainment post! After wearing a mask for 11 hours in an airplane and longer in airports, I can assure you I have forgotten nothing about covid. Brazil’s enforcement/social experience of masking up is pretty similar to Texas’, so it feels pretty natural here. Meanwhile, love this for OC (see you soon).
Entertainment
- International podcast, yo! Sacks and the City podcast episode 15 dropped yesterday, recorded 5,000 miles apart.
- My lil bro is launching a Creativity Contest, which I think is such an, er, creative idea!
- Finished (in a hammock, ahhh contented sigh) American Dirt, which I thought was great. Then I read a bit about the controversy surrounding the book, and it makes me have to reflect more deeply on what in the book spoke to me—but it’s also fiction. I am now currently reading The Line Becomes A River: Dispatches from the Border, which is pretty much the opposing view to the first book, but as a memoir instantly has more “credibility”. The two are very different and both very good.
Wine
- My brother will also marry into a family that has family that runs a winery called Alfons Ziegler. This is great news. Their chardonnay is the least chardonnay chardonnay I have ever had and is absolutely delicious.
- Alfons is also Zieg’s new nickname.
Shop, Shoppin’ away…
- How is it holiday season and I haven’t yet mentioned my friend The Pointed Arrow? Easy shopping, particularly with new gemstone studs and really unique turquoise (as in running through the stones, not the centerpiece) rings.
- I have been shopping up a storm in Rio. New bikini, who dis? May post links to stores next week, for now, too busy shopping…
