When I first moved to Aspen, I sort of stopped doing pullups. It wasn’t convenient to do them at my gym, in workouts, and I hadn’t yet discovered the most amazing pullup bar in all of Colorado. However, thanks to that discovery I am back on the pullup wagon, and made it my goal to get butterfly pullups. Why butterfly pullups when I cannot even do a handstand pushup or muscleup or unassisted pistol? I guess because I figured I could get it pretty fast.
And I was right.
I got three a few days ago, but wanted to get five before I called it real, since butterfly pullups are all about high reps and speed.
Today I got show off my newfound butterfly pullup skills in a workout (the new gym has bars inside and out). I was beyond excited. 30 butterfly pullups!! I can’t wait to do more pullup workouts …
… and I impressed the 85-year-old lady who walks around the top ramp of the gym wheeling a bag. She stopped me and said “good for you! You can do a chin-up too?” Yes. “You gotta do it your whole life. I’m 85 and I’m still exercising.”
