The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas is a must-read.
I almost exclusively read digital books I’ve checked out from the library on my iPad through the Kindle app. It’s not as complicated as it sounds. But sometimes I don’t pay attention to the return dates, and the thing with digital library loans is they automatically return that shit for you. So say you’re in the middle of a book you are LOVING, and you miss the return window, you have to wait for MONTHS before getting to finish it.
This is what happened with The Hate U Give, but I don’t even mind because it was so stinkin’ good. A novel, that doesn’t read like a novel, because it’s probably true.
It’s thoughtful, nuanced, fast-paced, realistic … it’s great. It’s easy to read. Just do it.
How did I not know it’s also a movie?? Watching now.
